By Richard L. Story, Sr.
The Wayne Fire Department was founded in 1911 as a volunteer fire department with 12 firemen. In 1928, the Village of Wayne purchased its first pumper and started a full-time fire department. The Wayne-Nankin Fire Department was formed in 1942, only to be divided again when the Village of Wayne became the City of Wayne in 1960. In all, this organization has served the community for 94 years. Through rare photographs and detailed historical information, this book documents nearly a century of the Wayne Fire Department's dedicated service.
In Loving Memory of Linda Story
This page is dedicated to the memory of Linda Story, my beloved wife of 51 years, my partner, and my friend for 54 years. Linda's unwavering support and companionship were constants in my life, accompanying me on photo shoots at all hours and in all kinds of weather. Her dedication and resilience were unmatched.
Linda was an outstanding note taker, meticulously documenting every detail with precision and care. Her keen eye and attention to detail enriched every project we undertook together. Beyond her invaluable support in photography, Linda was the creative force behind Linda's Sewing & Embroidery, crafting many garments adorned with the Story Fire Photography logo. Her talent and craftsmanship were evident in every stitch, reflecting her passion and dedication.
Not a day goes by that I don't miss Linda deeply. Her warmth, love, and unwavering support continue to inspire me. Rest in peace, my dear Linda. Your memory will forever be etched in my heart and in the countless moments we shared together.
